Chemotherapy
Infusion Therapy at ACOC combines a protocol of medicine regime that may include targeted therapy, hormone therapy, or immunotherapy. Protocols are decided by multispecialty tumor board. There will be other pre and post medications given to prevent side effects after the treatment.
Cytotoxic and other medicines are prepared in a special isolated room and handled by 2 highly qualified pharmacists and administered under the supervision of a Medical Oncologist and oncology nurses.
Blood tests are done with every session to check mainly on immunity, kidney function, renal function and liver functions. Based on the results, the treating oncologist will decide to go ahead with the treatment session, or administer pre-medication to strengthen or boost the patient’s immunity before treatment.
Each session takes anywhere between 1 hour and 8 hours depending on how many medicines are administered and the flow rate of each medicine. Infusion therapy maybe administered in conjunction with Radiation therapy.
